The "Heart Sutra" is the method of Shariputra(舍利子), the great disciple of the Buddha, who asked the Buddha how to practice the Prajna method and how to become a Buddha. The Buddha asked Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva(觀自在菩薩) to reply: "Through Prajna Paramita(般若), all the Buddhas of the past, the present and the future have obtained Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi(成佛)." Therefore, it is said: Prajna is the mother of all Buddhas.

Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, when practicing the profound Prajnaparamita, saw that all five aggregates are empty and transcended all suffering.

Shariputra, form does not differ from emptiness, and emptiness does not differ from form. Form is emptiness, and emptiness is form. Feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness are also like this.

Shariputra, all dharmas are marked with emptiness— they neither arise nor cease, are neither defiled nor pure, neither increase nor decrease.

Therefore, in emptiness, there is no form, feeling, perception, mental formations, or consciousness; no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or object of mind; no realms of sight and so forth, until no realms of consciousness.

There is no ignorance and no cessation of ignorance, and so forth, until no aging and death and no cessation of aging and death. There is no suffering, origination, cessation, or path; there is no wisdom, and no attainment.

Since there is nothing to attain, a bodhisattva relies on Prajnaparamita, with no hindrance in the mind. Without any hindrance, there is no fear. Far beyond all inverted views, one attains nirvana.

All Buddhas of the past, present, and future also rely on Prajnaparamita and attain unsurpassed, complete enlightenment.

Therefore, know that Prajnaparamita is the great transcendent mantra, the great bright mantra, the supreme mantra, the unequaled mantra that can remove all suffering. This is true and not false.

Therefore, recite the Prajnaparamita mantra, recite the mantra that says: Gate Gate Paragate Parasamgate Bodhi Svaha.
